1. Light: Lipstick plants prefer bright, indirect light. They can tolerate some morning or evening sun, but direct sunlight should be avoided as it can scorch the leaves.
2. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out slightly between waterings. It's important to avoid overwatering as it can lead to root rot.
3. Humidity: Lipstick plants thrive in high humidity environments. You can increase humidity by placing the plant on a tray filled with water and pebbles or by using a humidifier. Misting the leaves regularly can also help.
4. Temperature: Lipstick plants prefer temperatures between 60-75°F (15-24°C).
5. Fertilizer: Feed lipstick plants with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring and summer). Follow the instructions on the fertilizer package for the correct dosage.
6. Pruning: Prune lipstick plants to maintain their shape and encourage bushier growth. You can trim back leggy stems or remove any dead or yellowing leaves. Pruning can be done throughout the year.
7. Repotting: Lipstick plants don't require frequent repotting. Repot them every 2-3 years or when the roots start to outgrow the current pot. Use a well-draining potting mix and choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one.
